Troy Jones

Troy Jones

In addition to co-writing Billy Currington’s #1, “People Are Crazy” with Bobby Braddock, Troy’s writing credits include Kenny Chesney’s “Shiftwork” and “Like Me”, and Joe Nichols’ “Shade.” Before becoming a full-time songwriter, Troy worked in a paper mill for twenty years, where it wasn’t long before his co-workers started calling him the “Fork Lift Philosopher”. He became enamored with country music when, as a boy, he would sit and listen to his dad spin records at a local AM radio station. Troy lives outside of Birmingham, Alabama.

Mike, You probably have your answer by now. But, you’re right. It’s “slappin’ on paint.” : )

Well I hope troy sees this! Wishing I cld contact him just to say thank you for singing at my uncle Bill Morris funeral. He thought an awful lot of Troy Jones and at that time I had never heard the name before I went to stay with my uncle. The summer before he passed away he bragged on Troy something fierce and just knew he wld be a big deal. He saw what we all now see in Troy. Thank you for being such a humble god fearing man! Thank you for taking the time to make my uncle’s farewell ceremony so memorable for me. I’m sure he was proud!

Hi, my name is Kenny Farmer. I work for the Daily Home newspaper in Talladega, AL; the St. Clair Times and Lakeside Living magazine. I met Troy Jones wife at a luncheon last week in Talladega and someone told me her husband was a songwriter. I hear that he lives on the lake and I would like to do a story on him for our Lakeside magazine. Long story short, I would like to get in touch with Mr. Jones and was wondering if you guys could help me. Contact me at 256-299-2111 or by email at kfarmer@dailyhome.com.

    Thanks for your help,

    Kenny Farmer

  7. hi..
i was wondering in the song “Timing Is Everything”…where did the line come from “I could have been the child who got took home” come from. were you adopted? was the co-writer adopted?
i reunited adoptees with their birthparents and, as a birthMom myself, that line really hit me.
    just wondering,
    Thank you,
    Kellie Sharpe
