Hemby, Liddell Pick Up CMA Nominations

Carnival’s Natalie Hemby scored one while Frank Liddell nabbed three as the CMA announced their final nominations for their November award show this morning. Hemby is nominated in the Song Of The Year category for co-writing “White Liar” with Miranda Lambert, and Liddell was grabbed two nominations as a producer in the Single Of The Year category for “White Liar” and “The House That Built Me” along with one for co-producing Lambert’s Album Of The Year nominated Revolution. The 44th annual CMA Awards will broadcast Wednesday, November 10 at 8pm ET on ABC.

The Tennessee Association of Broadcasters held their annual convention last week in Murfreesboro. The crowd of broadcasters were highly impressed by Brent Cobb and Charlie Worsham, who BMI invited to perform at the event. Cobb writes for Carnival Music while Worsham writes for Ole Music Publishing.

For more than 12 years, Drew’s trademark harmonies, Rhythm Guitar skills and songwriting ability have been a vital element behind the success of the adult alternative rock band Sister Hazel. Their albums have sold over two million copies with hits that include: “All for You”, “Happy”, “Change Your Mind”, and “Champagne High”. “Writing songs has always been very therapeutic for me,” Drew claims, “I write as much and as often as I can.”

Drew and his bandmates make themselves very accessible to their fans, but they also dedicate a great deal of their time and influence to events such as The Rock Boat (www.rockboat.com) and organizations they feel strongly about, including Lyrics For Life, an organization Sister Hazel founded, which sponsors charitable events to raise money for and awareness of cancer research.

All accomplishments aside, Drew remains a grounded musician and individual who still only desires to follow commendable goals in both his personal and musical life which include “…living every moment to it’s fullest and to be a worthy husband and father. Career wise; continue to nurture what I’ve been blessed with. Keep writing and putting out music that means something to me… I guess just keep trying to live a good life and let the chips fall where they may.”

“Only Prettier” Takes Off

Following Miranda’s four-week number one song “The House That Built Me,” “Only Prettier” was co-written by Carnival’s Natalie Hemby and is already making its way up the charts. David Nail Hits A Home Run

Carnival writer David Nail can go to bat as well as he can write and sing a song. Nail showed off his baseball skills by slamming a home run in last months All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game. Nail’s love for baseball is no secret, he was also the focus of a CMT webisode series earlier this year titled “Making The Team” with the St. Louis Cardinals. Last week Miranda Lambert celebrated her four-week and second consecutive number one song “The House That Built Me” in Nashville. Carnival’s Frank Liddell was in attendance as he co-produced Miranda’s Revolution with Mike Wrucke, which includes “House” and Miranda’s first number one song, “White Liar.”
